Pediatric Care
Orthopedic physical therapy for pediatrics can play an important role in the treatment of common conditions such as ankle sprains, concussions, scoliosis, Osgood Schlatter's disease, Sever's disease, as well as motor patterning and neuromuscular control following bone fractures. Physical therapists can serve as the primary access point for these conditions, providing children with comprehensive and effective care. With specialized training in pediatric orthopedics and musculoskeletal conditions, our physical therapists can quickly assess and treat children, helping them return to their normal activities, sports, and school, as soon as possible.
Direct Access
Physical therapists can provide immediate screenings, implement care on day one, and coordinate any necessary referrals to physicians as needed. For the majority of these conditions, expedited hands-on treatment is crucial. Our physical therapists use a variety of techniques such as manual therapy, corrective exercise, and motor programming, in addition to providing extensive education to help children overcome their physical limitations and achieve their full potential. We work closely with physicians, patients and their families to help children achieve the best possible outcomes.
Torticollis Care
Physical therapists certified in torticollis treatment provide high quality intervention, including thorough evaluation and individualized care plans. Our treatment approach consists of extensive parent/caregiver education, stretching techniques, modification of feeding and play positions, and assessment of gross motor skills. Infants will undergo consistent re-evaluation to progress treatment quickly and appropriately, with open communication with the child’s pediatrician and other members of their healthcare team.
Concussion Management
We provide a thorough orthopedic and neurological evaluation which includes spinal and extremity range of motion/strength, vestibular and ocular assessments, memory/cognition testing, balance assessment and exercise tolerance evaluation. We work with physicians and athletic trainers to formulate an individualized treatment program to facilitate a safe and effective return to normal activity for our patients.
The treatment programs are curated to the specific impairments each person faces and evidence-based through the most current literature on concussion care to ensure a step wise progression in their performance and return to sport or learning.
Scoliosis Care
Schroth Certified Therapists work in conjunction with the physician and our Pilates instructors to provide an individualized management of scoliosis across the lifespan. We manage scoliosis-specific exercises focusing postural re-education and breathing techniques.
